Everything You Need to Know About Harrods Chocolaterie Slabs

Words by Bridie Newman

We’ve all indulged in a slab of chocolate, but have you tried a fresh Harrods Chocolaterie slab? Alongside more traditional tempered chocolate loaded with toppings, our chocolatiers have created something truly special: the sandwich slab. Here, a thick layer of refined flavours and textures is nestled between two layers of smooth chocolate.

This distinctive format allows for more nuanced combinations, showcasing the skill and creativity of our chocolatiers. Whether you’re searching for a
luxury chocolate gift or feel like treating yourself, find your flavour ahead of your next visit to the Chocolate Hall

Meet the Five Flavours

Bread and Butter

In 2024, we sold over a tonne of our signature bread-and-butter slab – and it’s easy to see why. It hits every note: sweet, crunchy, salty, buttery. There’s a lovely story behind it, too. Made with leftover Harrods sourdough from The Food Halls that’s blitzed, dried and fried in beurre noisette, then mixed with caramelised white chocolate and Maldon salt flakes, it’s both indulgent and a smart way to minimise food waste. The thick layer is sandwiched between a textured layer of 41% milk chocolate. The chefs keep creating it tirelessly to meet demand – once you try it, you’ll understand why.

Almond & Hazelnut

One for the slab purists, this nutty chocolate sensation is our senior head chef Alistair’s favourite. As he says, “It’s a classic combination that always delivers.” Made with 41% milk chocolate, it strikes the perfect balance between creamy sweetness and subtle cocoa depth, with generous handfuls of Piedmont hazelnuts and whole caramelised almonds. Rich, chunky, crunchy, it’s irresistibly morish – so good it should come with a warning.

Coffee and Croissant

Chocolate for breakfast? Sold. This slab was dreamed up by our French head chef and chocolatier Bastien, who, inspired by the classic Gallic breakfast combo, experimented with the ingredients until he landed on this winning combination. Similar to the bread and butter slab, he uses leftover Harrods croissants, and the coffee flavour comes from our Knightsbridge Roast house blend. Expect a subtle crunch from the caramelised nibbed coffee beans, sandwiched between 42% milk chocolate.

Honeycomb Crunch

Ready to crunch? This slab, perfect for the young at palate, delivers nostalgic flavours and textures that are as satisfying to eat as they are to snap. Little nuggets of honeycomb mingle with puffed rice and 42% milk chocolate, creating a joy-giving mix of sweet, smooth and crunchy. Next time you’re in the Chocolate Hall, listen to that little voice in your head whispering ‘treat yourself’.

Pistachio

Pistachio chocolate lovers, this one’s for you. A firm favourite since The Harrods Chocolaterie opened in 2021, this crunchy creation combines blitzed whole pistachios with Sicilian pistachio paste, folded into creamy white chocolate. The mix is sandwiched between layers of crisp feuilletine (made from sweet crêpes that are baked golden and crushed into flakes) and finished with two sheets of rich 66% dark chocolate.

Frequently Asked Questions

Our fresh chocolate slabs have a 3-month shelf life. Store them in cool dry area away from sunlight.

The great debate. Personal preference comes into play, but we don’t recommend storing chocolate in the fridge. It can absorb odours from foods nearby, and the moisture in the fridge leads to sugar blooms. Even in sealed bags, all chocolate is at risk of losing its original smell, texture and taste when kept in the fridge.
