Hailing from La Spezia in Italy, Gaetano Pesce is a boundary-pushing architect and designer known for his radical, expressive approach to form and material. He was educated at the University of Venice, emerging in the 1960s with bold, sculptural works that continue to defy convention—most famously, the Up series of armchairs, a striking fusion of politics and pop aesthetics.
