Bringing depth to surfaces and reimagining the potential of extruded yarns, New York designer Sandy Chilewich introduced her woven textiles to the international design community in 2000 with her eponymous label. With beginnings as a hosiery designer, Chilewich developed a penchant for innovations in colour and knitting design, eventually combining materials traditionally used in lingerie with a love for homeware. Initially launching placemats and floor mats with her original signature textiles, the family-led business now boasts a collection of unique coverings for tabletops, floors, walls, and windows. Continuing to push the boundaries of form and function, Chilewich transforms the way that interiors are dressed, reinterpreting underutilised and overlooked manufacturing practises to create a clean, modern aesthetic that enlivens any decor.
