The Macallan Tales of The Macallan Volume I 71-Year-Old Single Malt Whisky (70cl)

The Tales of The Macallan Volume I single malt whisky is an homage to Captain John Grant, whose tireless dedication to The Macallan and its estate influenced the whisky’s pioneering spirit. It’s a distinctive and rare single malt distilled in 1950 and only bottled in 2021, with wood spices, wood smoke and antique oak present throughout, perfectly balancing the ripe fruits and spices. A nose of grapefruit zest, vanilla, lemon, nutmeg, plum and almond is tempered by a palate of peach, apple, ginger and clove, with a medium finish consisting of citrus and sweet oak. A radiant golden hue nods to the colour of the military aiguillette worn by John Grant’s rank, which shines through the Lalique crystal decanter and comes presented in a book-like box containing the story of John Grant’s life and featuring beautiful illustrations by renowned illustrator Andrew Davidson.
