Coravin was born from a passion for wine by founder Greg Lambrecht, a man with a background in physics, mechanical engineering, nuclear power and medical devices. His innovative idea for the Coravin invention was originally a system to taste the wines he wanted, whenever he wanted, without opening or spoiling the whole bottle. Using a patented technology to create capsules that are made of argon gas, this unique system ensures the high quality of the product can be shared among family and friends without removing the cork. “The Coravin needle is able to penetrate the capsule and the cork, and then, when the wine has been retrieved, it can be taken out, allowing the cork to seal itself. The bottle can then be replaced in the cellar for months or even years, with the wine quality intact," says Lambrecht.
