THE OBJECT With its round case, this white and gold disc of light designed by Pierre Hardy is remarkable for its generosity. The compact powder bears a pattern of fine lines evoking silk twill, overlaid by the emblematic H passant motif. This Art Deco-influenced graphic signature was created in the mid-1920s for Hermès the saddler. The H is as functional as it is aesthetic, and offers three levels of intensity for a single shade, the vertical band being the darkest and the background the lightest.
