Château Haut-Brion is the oldest of Bordeaux's five first growths, having been originally planted back in the 1530s, and drunk by figures such as King Charles II and Thomas Jefferson. This Bordeaux-blend is certainly more recent, but the 1998 vintage is one for the ages, with superbly balanced fruit with an oaky finish.
