Regarded as one of the world’s greatest wine estates, R. López de Heredia Viña Tondonia’s Rioja’s have been following a traditional winemaking approach since 1877, rejecting modern chemical techniques, and, unusually for Rioja, by using fruit from only its own vines. The label has become famed for its Tempranillo-based wines, like this Tinta Tondonia Reserva 2011. Vibrant red in colour, the blend has a light, fresh texture with an aroma of vanilla and dried berries, paired with a rich, dry flavour of redcurrant and raspberry and firm tannins.
