The Château Léoville Poyferré estate is situated in the Saint-Julien appellation of the Haut-Médoc area of Bordeaux. The vineyards are planted with cabernet sauvignon, merlot and petit verdot vines, which are fermented in stainless steel before being aged in oak barriques for 18-20 months to result in the signature blend. The 2005 vintage benefits from a good structure, offering black fruits, tobacco and cedar aromas on the nose, followed by an acidic palate of tobacco leaf and cassis that leads to a long finish.
