Jack Mann was the winemaker at Houghton from 1922 to 1973; his influence on winemaking reaches far beyond his native western Australia, and is commemorated with the estate’s 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon that takes his name. The wine hails from the Frankland River region – home to some of the world’s oldest degraded granite gravels – and a year of persistent warm and dry conditions that has created outstanding intensity, full-flavour ripeness and fine structured tannins.
