The idea for Muun originated in Nyariga, a small town in Northern Ghana, where founder Audrey met a local craftsman named Tahiru. He was an expert in the tradition of straw-weaving, who dreamt of introducing his creations to the larger world – and so a seed was planted for a collection of artisanal basket bags to grow. Today, styles like the Sophie tote bag are crafted from a base of resistant local elephant grass and include an interior cotton pouch sewn by disabled persons working for Ghanaian organisation ISTA.
