Bold and sculptural, the Cigale dining table by Roche Bobois has design accolades that are clear to see – after all, its concept was initiated by Andrea Casati, a Milanese designer whose work blends functionality with striking visuals. A ceramic tabletop lies on a glass slab that’s supported by a lacquered steel base made from eight plates. These trapezoid shapes create graphic movement through the bottom as though they are unfolding, capturing the essence of the piece: it can be extended in both directions with the accompanying ceramic and glass panels.
