The Macallan
One of the most admired single malt distilleries, The Macallan was established by Alexander Reid in 1824. This year, it celebrates ‘200 Years Young’ with a momentous milestone anniversary that marks a rich and distinctive past, a dynamic present and, of course, the future that lies ahead. In this celebration of time travel, The Macallan explores five themes: Incomparable, Creativity, Craftsmanship, Legacy and Sustainability. The size and diversity of The Macallan’s estate is unique, with Easter Elchies House lying at the heart of the landscape. Bordered by Scotland’s River Spey, with sheep and cattle grazing the pastures, over 90 acres of land are sown with exclusive Minstrel barley. The smallest cut of distilled spirit is then selected to be matured in sherry-seasoned oak casks, creating the elixir’s rich aroma and colour.
