Upholding The Five Rare Crafts of whisky-making – home-grown barley, cooperage, traditional malting floor, coppersmiths and Malt Master – the people behind The Balvenie Collection have honed their skills across the generations. While each year and innovation bring a new, rich taste, some things never change, like a distinct honey character and an unwavering commitment to craftsmanship.
The Balvenie still practises The Five Rare Crafts, as it has done for over a century: growing its own barley, using traditional floor maltings, keeping both coppersmiths and coopers on site while working with Malt Master Kelsey McKechnie to maintain the quality in every drop.
The Balvenie matures its expressions in two unique cask types, which each impart unique layers of flavour to create its signature style. While the technique is widely used today, it was pioneered by The Balvenie's ambassador and former Malt Master, David C. Stewart.
Characterised by depth and complexity, The Rare Marriages Collection is created by Malt Master Kelsey McKechnie using the rarest casks, marrying together quality and unique flavour. Time is the ultimate luxury for this dazzingly complex collection of single malts.
The Balvenie Fifty Collection is a celebration of the craftspeople who have left their mark on this whisky over the past half century. Each whisky in the trilogy is interwoven with stories of craft; Edition One has been matured in a selected European oak refill butt filled in 1973.
